The IMSAA Doctoral Dissertation Award is given by the Ph.D. Forum technical program committee of the annual IEEE International Conference on Internet Multimedia Systems Architecture and Applications (IMSAA), for a doctoral dissertation defended since the previous edition of the conference. Dissertations broadly in networking/communications and computer science are acceptable, and those within the list of topics for the conference are especially welcomed. An Award is accompanied by a cash prize and a certificate noting the accomplishment, and the winner is invited to the conference to make a small presentation of the work.
To qualify for the Award, a dissertation must be nominated by the thesis advisor of its author (self-nominations or applications are not acceptable), who may choose to write a note in support indicating its merits (including any peer-reviewed publications whose contents are included in the dissertation). An electronic copy (PDF format) of the complete dissertation must be submitted.
The IMSAA Doctoral Dissertation Award will usually be given to only two recent PhDs, at the annual IMSAA conference. The committee however reserves the right to decline to make the Award. In some exceptional cases, the committee may make Honorable Mentions of dissertations that are deemed to be of exceptional quality but do not win the Award. All decisions of the committee are final and binding.
This award has been sponsored by City University, London.
