1. IMSAA07 is the first conference on IP Multimedia Subsystem in India . IIITB is one of the leading institutes offering an elective on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) at the master's level. The institute, with the support from industry, has over the last three years, setup comprehensive facilities for the project work and Research in the field of IMS. During the IMSAA07, a number of state-of-the-Art demonstrations will be made by leading Industry players in the field of IMS. There may also be a stall from India's major Telco service provider.

  2. The companies that are participating in the demos at IMSAA07 are:
    1. Hewlett Packard (HP)
    2. International Business Machines (IBM)
    3. Motorola
    4. Sun Microsystems
    5. Tata-Elxsi
    6. Demo setup by IIITB (IMS and Pervasive Computing Course) students
  3. Brief details of the demos being shown are as follows:
    1. Hewlett Packard
      1. Multi Party Video Conferencing Service delivery from a Core IMS Network comprising of CSCF, HSS, SIPAS, MRF . This demo will use the infrastructure in the IMS Lab set up by HP at IIITB three years ago.
      2. Instant Communication Service (e.g. Video Chat, Video Share… ) where the Core network will be accessed via Nokia Phones
      3. Service Orchestration in IMS : An interesting use case is being demonstrated on how a blended service can be orchestrated using IMS Core Network, an audio conferencing service and a Google Map service utilizing BPEL and JBoss Rules.
      4. HP (GDIC / GDAS CME) :

               (i) Video Based Mobile Advertising Server: This is a comprehensive application, which uses HP OpenCall Media Platform (Video Version) along with a Web Application server. A Telco SP can use it to earn additional revenues from Video Advertisements.

(ii) Variety of Applications: Exploiting Presence information and Multimedia

          5.  IMS Applications Demo from HP GDCC : These application use a presence server, share music and video in an IMS Network.

    2. IBM:
      1. IBM is demonstrating a complex Business application built up using their flagship Websphere product using Presence and other plug-ins. Business Finder 2.0 is an advanced presence-driven location based service, providing mobile subscribers the ability to establish on-demand connection business services . In this demonstration, IBM will present BusinessFinder 2.0, a mashup of IBM BusinessFinder technology, with Google Maps and a number of telecom functionalities (i.e. Location, Presence, SMS and 3PCC ) exposed via IBM Telecom Web Services Server .
    3. Motorola: Motorola will demonstrate delivery of a comprehensive set of Multimedia Services .
      1. IMS Video Conferencing Technology Demonstration: Motorola IMS and conferencing applications enabling a video conference bridge where multiple devices, soft phones join in with differing video and audio codec's.
      2. Network based Presence Agent : Motorola IMS enables SIP devices (usually analog phones behind SIP ATAs) to share their presence information with the help of a Motorola IMS Network Presence Agent application server . The Network Presence Agent watches and delivers presence information on behalf of a another user device. This enables SIMPLE enabled SIP clients to watch for and receive presence updates for SIP devices with no SIMPLE capability. Demonstrating Motorola IMS capability for service interaction and Application chaining .
      3. Tribal Conference : Motorola IMS service interaction management capability brings together three different IMS applications - a Conference server, a Presence Server and a Network Presence Agent application to deliver this demonstration . A user sets up a conference to be created when all his buddies are available. The network watches for the presence of all listed participants and automatically sets up a conference call when all participants are "online" and "available".
      4. Multimedia Ringback Tones and Ads
    4. Sun Microsystems:
      1. Sun Microsystems will be demonstrating applications like Audio Conferencing Service using their hugelu popular Open Sourced SIP Application server “SailFin”. This would enable participants who would have attended their tutorial on SIP Application Server, an opportunity to see how services may be delivered using this very vital component of an IMS Core Network.
    5. Tata Elxsi: These demos use the following Demo setup:
      • UE-1, UE-2 : Tata Elxsi developed video phone reference solution.
      • UE-3 : PSTN Phone P-CSCF, I-CSCF, S-CSCF, HSS : Open IMS Core.org
      • GW : Tata Elxsi developed PSTN to SIP Gateway reference solution.
      • AS-1 : TEL/Third party Gaming server
      • AS-2 : Third party Conference server
      • AS-3 : Tata Elxsi Developed PRESENCE Server

Demo Scenario 1: Video Conferencing using H.264 CIF UE-1 establishes a multimedia session with UE-2 comprising a video stream and an audio stream. The video stream supports one H.264 codec. The audio stream supports g711, g729, AMR.The conference sessions between UE-1 and UE-2 will be managed by AS-2

Demo Scenario 2: IMS Multi session capability using Call + Gaming Feature: UE-1 and UE-2 registers with HSS for gaming service. UE-1 establishes an audio call with UE-2, while the call is going on UE-1 starts a TIC-TAC-TOE game with UE-2. The Game is hosted by the App server AS

Demo Scenario 3: IMS Presence enabled feature: UE-1 and UE-2 registers with HSS for PRESENCE service. The PRESENCE indication buttons against each entry in the buddy list shows the presence status based on the notification received by PRESENCE server AS-3

    6. Demo by IIITB Students:
      1. Students of IMS&PC course have setup an IMS Core Network, using CSCF, HSS and Media Server (SEMS) from OpenIMSCore.Org, and Sun Microsystems's Opensource Sailfin SIP application server. The demo will show delivery of IVR services from a media server via an IMS Core network, and simple services like click-to-dial via a SIPAS.
